Ferrari driver Felipe Massa completed the fastest lap on Friday morning at the Hungaroring. The Brazilian completed his fastest lap in 1.20.981. Massa was right ahead of his team mate Kimi Raikkonen and McLaren drivers Kovalainen and Hamilton.

The first free practice session at the Hungaroring got under way at 10.00am under a clouded sky. In the opening minutes most drivers completed their installation lap as usual but for the next 40 minutes there was hardly any action to witness for the fans. Honda F1 drivers Rubens Barrichello and Jenson Button were the first drivers to complete a timed lap.

With 45 minutes left in the session Kimi Raikkonen and Felipe Massa hit the track for the first time to complete their installation run. The Ferrari duo would end the 90-minute free practice session on top of the time sheets.

There were yellow flags half way into the session when Sebastian Vettel slowed down and parked his car in the grass. The Scuderia Toro Rosso driver seemed to have blown up his Ferrari engine and thus his time on track was limited. The German was able to complete just three laps this morning.

The Force India F1 drivers both continued testing their new seamless shirt gearbox. Adrian Sutil and Giancarlo Fisichella ended the session in P18 and P19.
