In the third and final free practice session at the Hungaroring Lewis Hamilton completed the fastest lap of the weekend. The McLaren driver completed his fastest lap in 1.20.228 and was just ahead of Ferrari's Felipe Massa and Toyota's Timo Glock.

The final one-hour free practice session got under way with the Force India drivers and Sebastian Vettel being the first drivers out on track. For Sebastian Vettel it was an important free practice session as the Toro Rosso driver hardly completed any laps at the Hungaroring on Friday. On Saturday morning the German completed 22 laps without any major problems and set the eighth fastest time.

It was unclear what both Renault drivers were doing at the start of the session. Both Alonso and Piquet completed their first 10 laps very slowly, being around 20 seconds of the pace. Later in the session both Alonso and Piquet were mostly found in the top 10.

Robert Kubica and Nick Heidfeld showed mixed results at BMW Sauber. Kubica ended 18th in the end while his team mate Heidfeld ended 6th.
