Formula 1 will travel to Spain next week for the European Grand Prix. At the brand-new street circuit in Valencia the Formula 1 teams will compete in round twelve of the 2008 F1 championship. BMW Sauber F1 team boss Mario Theissen predicts a lot of activity in the Friday sessions as teams are trying to get used to the track.
"Of course we will do anything possible to analyse a totally unfamiliar track" explains Theissen. "We have a track map and we can estimate how fast it is and which aero-settings it requires."
By dint of the Intel super computer in the team's Hinwil plant, the BMW Sauber F1 Team can carry out extensive simulations in order to be perfectly prepared for the "Valencia Street Circuit". Nonetheless, teams and drivers will have to cope with many unknown factors in Valencia than at a GP venue they already know. "There will be more questions marks than usual before we drive there for the first time on the Friday," adds Theissen. "I expect much more action on the track during the Friday sessions than is usually the case."
