Felipe Massa is feeling confident about his chances of victory in tomorrow's European Grand Prix at Valencia after storming to pole position, fending off a last minute challenge from Lewis Hamilton.

"You always want to be on top and starting on the pole here is very nice," Massa said. "The track isn't very easy and the surface is a bit slippery so to make a perfect lap is difficult. I had a good lap and was able to score pole position. I think we have a good car for the race tomorrow which will be very difficult, but we'll try to do our best."

"I think I made pole in the first sector of my lap which was fantastic," he added. "I made some very small mistakes in sector two and then I had a good final sector but I think everything was done in the first sector. The track is getting better all the time and yesterday we saw the lap time improve so quickly throughout the sessions."

"We have a great car and we showed it in the last race, but unfortunately sometimes these things can happen but we show here that we're competitive again which is the most important thing," he concluded.
