Felipe Massa picked up where he left of in Valencia as testing got underway today at Monza, ahead of the Belgian Grand Prix, and next month's Italian Grand Prix. Massa finished marginally ahead on a day where the top three drivers were split by 0.033s.

Heikki Kovalainen was second fastest in his McLaren ahead of Nico Rosberg, but with 78 and 61 laps respectively, they fell short of the distance that Massa covered. The Ferrari driver completed three, long race-simulation runs. All cars were running in special low-downforce configurations for the high-speed circuit.

It was a hot and sunny day at the circuit near Milan, Italy with air temperature at 30C and the rack peaking over 50C. Sebastian Vettel confirmed Toro Rosso's pace with the fourth best time of the day ahead of Barrichello's Honda and Webber's Red Bull.

Nick Heidfeld was in action for BMW finishing seventh ahead of Liuzzi's Force India, Trulli's Toyota and Piquet's Renault.

Testing continues tomorrow at Monza.
