Alonso tops second practice

Fernando Alonso completed the fastest lap in Friday's second free practice session. The session was a busy one for the marshals though as there were four crashes in the 90-minute session. Ferrari driver Felipe Massa ended second in the afternoon.

The second free practice session was far more interesting to watch for the Belgian fans than the first session. Early in the session the fans saw Mark Webber crashing his Red Bull Racing car into the tyre barriers at Rivage. Half way into the session Raikkonen lost his Ferrari and crashed at Turn 11. Due to the water coming out of the tyres barriers there was a little river on track causing both Giancarlo Fisichella and Nelson Piquet to spin at the very same place. All drivers were doing fine though fortunately and will be able to join the others in Saturday's free practice session again.

At the end of the session most drivers were practicing starts at the start-finish line. Robert Kubica though was unable to practice his start as got out of his car on track. The BMW driver probably stalled his car.
