Massa happy with second

Felipe Massa was happy to bring his Ferrari home in second place, a position better than he thought he could manage after losing the battle for the lead to Hamilton and Raikkonen in the early stages of the Belgian Grand Prix.

"To be honest I was slower than I was supposed to be because I saw lots of people go off," Massa said. "I saw Lewis quite a bit ahead and I didn't want to risk the eight points, just going slow through the corners because it was very wet and I didn't want to go off. I made a mistake at the start and Kimi passed me, but then I was just comfortable in third during the whole race, and it was pretty difficult to catch Kimi and Lewis because we were all doing pretty similar lap times."

"Then second place came to me so I'm happy. We know the championship is still open and we'll fight race by race to close the gap and pass McLaren," he added. "Kimi was so quick, he was going to pass me easily and we almost touched wheel-to-wheel which I found strange but he passed me anyway and then I got second place which was pretty lucky but in the circumstances you can't say it's lucky. I was just looking to finish the race."
