Kimi Raikkonen will continue to race at the Ferrari Formula 1 team for another two seasons. The Italian team announced on Friday afternoon they extended its agreement with the Finn until the end of the 2010 season.
The extension of his contract didn't come as any surprise to Raikkonen. Speaking about the new deal the Finn told the gathered media at Monza: "I wasn't worried about it at any time. It was completely my decision so I know what was going to be possible. It wasn't a difficult decision to extend my contrast as I enjoy it here at Ferrari. Of course it's not easy when you're having a hard time but it doesn't mean you don't enjoy the racing or that I've lost any motivation."
When asked if a retirement from Formula 1 was every an option he replied: "I never said that was an option, that's what something you guys (the media) were saying. All I said is that I had a contract for next year at least and we'll see after that."
