BMW test driver Marko Asmer set the pace on the first day of testing this week at Jerez in Spain, as three teams got their programme underway on a special 'young driver day' test, before another five join the action tomorrow.
Asmer covered 79 laps in his BMW to finish ahead of 19-year-old Spaniard Dani Clos who made his F1 debut at the wheel of a Williams.Clos was driving a KERS-enabled Williams, the first time the team has run the system on track, and covered 75 trouble-free laps.
The third and final team in action was Honda with British tester Mike Conway who covered just 20 laps before an electronics problem halted proceedings.
Testing gets underway proper, tomorrow.
