BMW test driver Christian Klien set the pace on the second day of testing this week at Jerez in southern Spain, as five more teams joined the action in the final major group test session of the season.

Klien finished the day 0.3s ahead of Monza race-winner Sebastian Vettel, who was at the wheel of the Red Bull Racing car today and suffered a minor gearbox problem in the afternoon. He will test for his 2009 team for another day, before taking over at Toro Rosso again on Friday.

Sebastien Buemi meanwhile was in Vettel's seat at Toro Rosso as he auditioned for a drive in 2009 and had a good day finishing third overall.

McLaren tester Gary Paffett ended the day fourth as the team trialled its KERS system for the very first time on track ahead of Toyota tester Kamui Kobayashi in fifth.

Lucas di Grassi resumed testing duties for Renault finishing ahead of Honda's Alex Wurz and Kazuki Nakajima who tested a 2009 configuration rear wing for Williams.

Testing continues tomorrow.
