F1's newest Grand Prix winner Sebastian Vettel showed his winning pace at Monza was no fluke by going fastest on the third day of testing this week at Jerez. Vettel was at the wheel of a Red Bull for the second day and clocked a best time of 1m18.001s.
However it was not all smooth sailing as rain interrupted testing at midday and Vettel's day ended after just 37 laps because of an engine problem that required it to be changed.
Nick Heidfeld was second for BMW covering almost twice as much mileage as Vettel and finishing ahead of Renault tester Lucas di Grassi in third who did not go out in the wet conditions.
Pedro de la Rosa was back in action for McLaren finishing fourth ahead of Honda tester Alex Wurz.
Sixth on the timesheets was the big story of the day, Takuma Sato who covered 49 laps on his audition test for a seat at Toro Rosso in 2009. He finished ahead of Kobayashi in the Toyota and Nakajima in the Williams.
Testing at Jerez concludes tomorrow.
