Vettel remains calm and doesn't aim for F1 title yet

25 September 2008

Sebastian Vettel is enjoying a record breaking year. The Scuderia Toro Rosso driver became the youngest driver in Formula 1 to score a point, to start from pole position and to win a race. But the 21-year-old German believes it is way too early to think about becoming the youngest ever to win the F1 championship.

"I would not mind, obviously," Vettel told F1.com about winning the Formula 1 championship as the youngest ever. "There is a big difference between winning a race and winning a championship because what makes a champion is the fact that the guy scored the most points throughout a whole season and that requires consistency and a competitive car. Otherwise, you would have no chance of fighting for the title.

"Now we are in the midfield and that obviously disqualifies us from fighting for the title. But obviously my target is one day to be in a very strong car in order to become eligible for the title bout."
