Alonso: BMW was never a serious option

09 October 2008

Half way into this season rumours suggested double F1 world champion Fernando Alonso was on his way to BMW Sauber F1. The winner of the Singapore Grand Prix now reveals he was never seriously negotiating with the Hinwill based team.

"It was never a serious approach because for them they were quite happy with their drivers and didn't want to change," Alonso told autosport.com. "For me, it was not time to talk because I preferred to wait until the end of the season and concentrate on driving for Renault, which is my job this year. It was not time to make a decision. It was never a possibility for me or for them."

Alonso furthermore said he will reveal his future in Formula 1 at the end of the season and not any earlier. The Spaniard is most likely going to stay at Renault, while some rumours suggest he is in talks with the Honda F1 team.
