Hamilton happy on pole

Lewis Hamilton was not only a happy man to have taken pole position at Fuji after two races in which he has endured rather dramatic qualifying sessions, but also for the fact that title rival Felipe Massa ended up fifth on the grid.

"We had a good qualifying session, quite different to Singapore and Monza," said Hamilton. "We didn't have any problems in Q2 so it was quite straightforward. Usually when you put fuel in it gets tougher and my fist lap on Q3 wasn't too good but on my last lap I managed to put together the sectors and got he lap in. The team has done a phenomenal job and the car has been great."
