"The start was probably the most exciting part of the race for sure," said Alonso. "The people in front of me were very aggressive in turn one but I think it surprised us a bit with the cold temperatures we all seemed to lock tyres there. I was behind Robert and from there the race was a bit easier."
"In the second stint we got some clean air and the car was very nice to drive and we made an advantage and won the race there," he added. "We were second when we pitted for the first time, so I asked the team if we could exit the pits ahead of Robert and so they put in less fuel and in the clean air I needed to make an advantage. Then I just needed to control the race to the end as we didn't know how the soft tyres would be on the long stint."
"The Singapore win was completely unexpected and we won in some special conditions, but today we had nothing and won again on a circuit that probably doesn't really suit our car that well," Alonso went on. "I can't believe it with back-to-back wins. The team has done a great job to improve the car and we are now just behind Ferrari in pace."
