Haug: Di Resta won't race in F1 next year

14 October 2008

Mercedes Motorsport boss Norberg Haug has said his DTM driver Paul di Resta will not race in Formula 1 as early as next season. As Force India is rumoured to sign up an engine deal with Mercedes some suggest Di Resta could join Force India as Mercedes talent, but according to Haug the Scot will race either in DTM or in GP2 next year.

Norbert Haug believes Di Resta has what it takes to become a successful driver in Formula 1, but it is just not the right time for him yet. "The options for Paul next year are either to stay in DTM or go into GP2 - but nothing is decided," Haug was quoted by PA. "We need to look and see what the next steps are. I think he is an exceptional guy and he has the ingredients, but you never know. You need to find out and then go from there."
