Raikkonen - I knew what was expected of me

Kimi Raikkonen did his best to avoid any controversy after the Chinese Grand Prix in which he gave second place to team mate Felipe Massa in the final stages of the race, to keep the Brazilian's title hopes alive.

"We know what we want as a team and that's what we did and its normal in this situation," Raikkonen insisted about the moment he eased off on the back straight and let Massa through. "I had a very good car today and it was handling very nicely but unfortunately it wasn't fast enough when we needed it."

"Lewis was able to pull away at the start and then when I was faster, it was too late, he was too far ahead," he added. "I also got traffic when I was faster after the pit stop. But anyway if we were right behind Lewis, we stopped on the same laps so there was no way past unless he made a mistake."

"We finished second and third today so next time we hope to do better," Raikkonen went on. "I know what the team expects and I have nothing to lose or win in a way and I'm driving for the team and I was pretty happy with how things went in the race apart from that we couldn't challenge the McLaren today."
