Dennis happy to give Ferrari Brazil one-two

20 October 2008

McLaren team boss Ron Dennis says he would not be upset if rivals Ferrari took a one-two finish at the saeson finale in Brazil, so long as Lewis Hamilton ends up third, fourth or fifth, a result that would clinch the drivers' championship no matter what.

"We have no problem with Massa coming first and Kimi finishing second in Brazil," Dennis said after the Chinese Grand Prix. "It doesn't worry us much. I don't think they'll have a performance advantage there, but it doesn't really worry us."

"Obviously we don't have to win that race for Lewis to take his first championship," he emphasised. "We'll compete as usual through practice and qualifying, see where we are and then take a view on the race from there."

"We just need to remain disciplined," he added. "At the end of the day we're in a better position because we're seven points ahead. The outcome depends on where the other cars are, but we go there knowing we can finish third fourth or fifth."
