F1 champ to see parents wave chequered flag

30 October 2008

The 2008 Formula One world champion will see the chequered flag on Sunday being waved by his father. The organisers of the Brazilian Grand Prix revealed it will give the drivers' relatives the opportunity to wave the chequered flag to celebrate their son's first F1 championship title.

At Interlagos track official Carlos Montagner explained to the media he wishes to offer this year's champion a special way to bring in the first championship for either Lewis Hamilton or Felipe Massa.

In case Lewis Hamilton wins the championship his father Anthony Hamilton will most likely grab the chequered flag while Felipe Massa would see his mother Ana and father Titonio wave the chequered flag for him.

Hamilton leads Massa by seven points ahead of the final round of the championship.
