Alonso fastest on Friday
31 October 2008 / Results / PhotosFernando Alonso was Friday's fastest man out on track at Interlagos. The Spaniard completed the fastest lap of the day in the second 90-minute free practice session in 1.12.296 and ended just ahead of championship candidate Felipe Massa. Lewis Hamilton ended ninth as the McLaren driver seemed to be mainly focussed on reliability and the car's race set-up.
Today's second free practice session was declared wet by the race stewards even though there were just a few minor drops of rain falling down at the Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace race track.
The session saw a number of short yellow flag periods. Sebastien Bourdais missed a corner twice but the Scuderia Toro Rosso driver as able to continue. Red Bull's Mark Webber and Toyota's Timo Glock both spun their car once but could also continue their lap without any damage.
The final round in the 2008 Formula 1 championship will continue on Saturday with a one-hour free practice session on Saturday morning and qualifying on Saturday afternoon.
