Felipe Massa was the fastest man in Friday's first free practice session in front of his home crowd. The Brazilian completed his fastest lap in 1,12,305 and was almost two tenths of a second ahead of championship rival Lewis Hamilton.

The championship will be decided here on Sunday afternoon as Lewis Hamilton and Felipe Massa are fighting for the title 2008 Formula 1 world champion at Interlagos. Sunday's Brazilian Grand Prix could be interrupted by rain according to the latest forecasts and thus the fans can expect an exciting weekend ahead.

In Friday's first free practice there was already a bit of rain coming down after around one hour into the session. In the first 30 minutes of the session though it was pretty quiet out on track. Most drivers completed an installation run but remained in their pitbox for most of the time. It wasn't until half an hour when Lewis Hamilton and Felipe Massa came out on track. Hamilton's flying lap would top the time sheets for most of the session.

With less than ten minutes to go Felipe Massa managed to improve Hamilton's fastest time, mainly thanks to a very fast first sector by the Brazilian. In the dying minutes Hamilton completed another flying lap but was unable to improve his own fastest time. Ferrari driver Kimi Raikkonen ended the session in third while Robert Kubica ended fourth.
