Ferrari relaxed for race - Smedley

02 November 2008

Felipe Massa's race engineer Rob Smedley says his entire crew is feeling unusually relaxed ahead of the crucial Brazilian Grand Prix after his driver clinched a dominant pole position.

"He did a very good lap," Smedley said. "Every now and again you see him do these stunning laps and this is one of them."

Smedley denied that he had dramatically short-fuelled Massa to ensure he got pole. "The fuel load is normal and we even discussed if we would go lighter and we didn't," he insisted. "He's just done a stunning lap."

"I think we're pretty relaxed," he went on. "It's a funny weekend because we've come here with the goal of pole and winning the race and the rest of it is in the lap of the gods, so we're enjoying it and feeling relaxed."
