Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo thinks Formula 1 should changes its points system. Felipe Massa won six races, while 2008 Formula One champion Lewis Hamilton won five races. Di Montezemolo believes a race winner should be better rewarded in points.
"I believe the points system should really change. Massa won six races, while Hamilton won five but the Briton clinched the title," Di Montezemolo told Italian newspaper La Stampa. "It reminds me of 1976 when Niki Lauda missed out on the championship title by just a point to another Briton James Hunt in a McLaren."
In 2003 the FIA decided to change the points system where a race winner would get 10 points against 8 points for the runner up. In the years before 2003 the runner up would get just six points.
