Kubica hopeful of competitive 2009
23 November 2008Robert Kubica is hopeful that he will be just as competitive in 2009 as he has been this season, although he admits that with the many rule changes, there is only so much that is in his power.
"Doing as well will be anything but easy as we will have to cope with a large number of challenges next year," said Kubica. "My task will be to give my very best and to avoid making mistakes. The rest is not really in my hands."
"In the early stages of the season we had excellent reliability and strong pace, consequently, with seven races contested, I unexpectedly held the championship lead," Kubica added. He had 42 points after the seventh race of the season, five more than Hamilton and Massa.
"I secured a total of seven podium finishes and scored points in 14 races," he went on. "All things considered it was a good season. It goes without saying that I am very happy that I was able to give the BMW Sauber F1 Team its maiden GP win."
