Fisichella insists seat is safe

Fisichella insists seat is safe

29 November 2008

Giancarlo Fisichella has again moved to quash rumours that his seat with the Force India seat is under threat following the team's deal with McLaren Mercedes.

Rumours have mounted since the announcement when team owner Vijay Mallya hinted that there was a chance there might be some change to the line-up, despite having confirmed both Fisichella and Sutil earlier in the year.

"The line up was announced in October in China by Vijay and I trust people who trust me," Fisichella told F1.com. "I originally signed a two-year contract which was reviewed in September to incorporate the McLaren deal. In a few words, the team offered me a better car and a different package."

"I accepted their proposal and both sides signed the new document between the Singapore and Chinese races which is why Vijay Mallya made the announcement in Shanghai," he added. "In September we were told that Pedro de la Rosa could test and we could not say before it was made official, so I wasn't surprised at all. As for the rest, I'm not really interested in gossip."
