According to Formula 1 team boss Flavio Briatore the team's test driver Romain Grosjean isn't ready yet to race in Formula One. The 22-year-old Frenchman was the team's test and reserve driver in 2008 and finished fourth in the GP2 series.
Renault F1 team boss Flavio Briatore admitted to German magazine Auto, Motor und Sport that he searched the drivers market for a possible replacement of Nelson Piquet. "When you have a driver such as Fernando Alonso you can permit looking around for a second driver and take a bit of a gamble but the drivers market had not much to offer unfortunately.
"It is impossible for the GP2 series to bring a driver such as Lewis Hamilton or Nico Rosberg every season. This year Romain Grosjean was the best driver in GP2 but we believe he isn't ready yet for Formula 1. He made too many mistakes he can't afford in F1."
