Briatore plans to retire in two years

15 December 2008

Renault team boss Flavio Briatore has suggested he will retire from F1 in another two years. In 2009 the Italian plans to relieve some of the day-to-day strain of running the team by getting a deputy in place.

Briatore let slip when he was asked if he had any remaining ambition to work at Ferrari.

"I like to beat Ferrari, but when my team doesn't win, being Italian I obviously support Ferrari," Briatore told Reuters. "But I don't think I'll go to work at Ferrari, especially as in two years I'll stop."

Briatore's F1 career stretches back to 1991 when he ran the Benetton team. After a break he returned to the sport having led Renault's acquisition of the Benetton team.
