McLaren driver Pedro de la Rosa was fastest on the second out of a three-day test at the new Autodromo Internacional do Algarve. The Spaniard was just ahead of Ferrari test drivers Luca Badoer and Marc Gene.

On Tuesday Pedro de la Rosa took over from Gary Paffett at McLaren and spent the whole day in the MP4-23K KERS car. Despite initial issues with grip caused by the low-speed circuit configuration, green track surface and cold December weather, De la Rosa quickly adapted to the new Portimao circuit. Alongside the KERS programme, he was also able to complete some 2009 aero testing, using an '09-spec front wing and moveable flick-ups.

At Ferrari the team's test drivers Luca Badoer and Marc Gene took over from Felipe Massa, who didn't feel well on Monday. The two drivers continued with working on finding the best set-up for the car fitted with slicks and on evaluating new solutions for next season. Badoer also proceeded with the endurance test of the engine, which began last week.
