Schumacher backs new F1 rules

Michael Schumacher has added his voice to support the new F1 rules for 2009 and the radical cost-cutting plans.

"The new rules go in the right direction in my opinion and have the potential to improve the show further," Schumacher said. "The moves to increase mechanical grip are ideal."

"F1 will change a bit, but it will stay the pinnacle of motorsport," he added. "It's also clear that some action had to be taken in light of the current financial situation around the world. I'm happy the FIA and teams have taken the first steps together."
