Webber expects more consistency from race stewards

22 December 2008

In 2008 there were a number of discussions after the races when the race stewards punished drivers after a racing incident. Red Bull Racing driver Mark Webber believes the race stewards should give less penalties for racing incidents.

According to Webber the poor stewarding at the races in 2008 doesn't help Formula 1 as a sport. "I agree that poor stewarding is unquestionably bad for us," Webber told the BBC. "As far as I'm concerned, we should have it like it is in football - whoever crosses the line first, wins - outside of technical infringement with the car, someone cheating with their car. We should be calling that a result.

"The consistency this season has been lacking somewhat - I'm sure the race officials this season would agree - and I'm sure things will change in that regard next campaign. Have something permanent, and go from there."
