F1 veteran Nick Heidfeld expects there to be more accidents in the sport next season as a result of the new regulations, especially those concerning the new, larger front wings for 2009.
"I think accidents might happen more often, especially at the start of the year because we need to get used to it," Heidfeld told Autosport. "Sitting in the car, you can't see your front wing. You know it's there, but from previous years you'll have got used to what you had that maybe at the start of a race or in a very quick situation where you have to react without thinking I could see more wings touching."
Heidfeld's BMW team was the first to run completely 2009-spec aerodynamics in winter testing, and the team had two cars on track in the final test to simulate close-quarter racing conditions for next season.
