Former F1 champion and former team owner Jackie Stewart seems to have no intention of letting up on his criticism of the sport's governing forces in 2009 as he has hit out at Bernie Ecclestone as well as his favourite usual target, Max Mosley.
"The era of big change is now essential because the sport has grown larger than either the governors or the commercial-rights holders and that's a fact," Stewart told The Times newspaper. "It's taken too long to achieve things that should have been achieved years ago - things other sports have long ago matured to."
"I don't think Bernie can bring people in to help him in a transition phase," he added. "He has been so used to total control that if you look at his structure you have to ask yourself 'is there a successor?' and you'd have to say 'no'."
On Mosley, Stewart repeated his calls for the FIA president to stand down. "I think Max should remove himself from the FIA completely and also from the motor industry and motorsport," he said. "The FIA should replace him with someone not from within or even from motorsport. They should headhunt a CEO who can rebuild the structure in line with modern practice, to satisfy investors in the sport and give the FIA total transparency."
