Donington Park will risk losing the British Grand Prix as of 2010 if its plans to upgrade the track are not on schedule when Bernie Ecclestone meets the organisers in September 2009.
Silverstone will host the British Grand Prix for the last time this season as, if all goes according to plan, Donington Park will have the honour of hosting the event from 2010 and beyond.
"They have a contract with us that I am sure they understand, and I would imagine they have considered the state of the market and have a fall-back position," Ecclestone told the Daily Telegraph. "I am relying on what they told me they will deliver, and we have a September deadline, from memory, to see that all is as it should be. If it is not then we have four or five venues ready to stage a race."
