De la Rosa still aiming for race seat in F1

McLaren's Formula 1 test driver Pedro de la Rosa is confident that he can return on the Formula One grid one day. The Spaniard is the team's test driver since 2003 and believes his only chance to return at the F1 grid is to wait for the right opportunity and in the meantime continue working with the best team in the sport.

Speaking on stage at the Autosport International show De la Rosa said: "The reason I'm still at McLaren is mainly because I want to work with the best team in Formula 1. Being a test driver is the closest link to being a race driver in F1. If I would step into a different category I know that, at my age, chances of getting back into a full race driver are very small so that is why I have to stick with the best team and become a more complete test driver.

"I believe this is the only way for me to get back on the grid but I'm sure that one day I will come back."
