Christian Klien has revealed he is still more determined than ever to return to a full-time race seat in Formula One.
Klien, now in his second season as BMW test and reserve driver, has played a key role in the development of the 2009 car which is to be launched on January 20. With new regulations for this year limiting testing, the Austrian will see his time on track reduced over the course of the season. "I am well aware that a second chance is much harder to get than a first one," admitted the 25 year-old in an interview with F1.com. He does, however, recognise BMW's ability to keep motivation high by allowing him to race at Le Mans last year as well as its Petit Le Mans series.
Christian is now in his sixth year of Formula One involvement which began with a disappointing campaign with Jaguar in 2004 before displaying his qualifying skills in the early rounds of 2005 with Red Bull. A technical problem denied him a first podium finish in Monaco the following year, before a move to Honda as test driver for 2007. Christian's best finish to date was 5th for Red Bull in the 2005 Chinese Grand Prix.
