Last year's Formula One season saw Robert demonstrate his extraordinary talent on more than one occasion, ending the year in fourth place in the Drivers' Championship. The 24-year-old's greatest success came in Montreal, where he became the first Pole ever to win a Grand Prix.
Readers of the popular magazine "Sport" selected him as their favourite sportsman following this historic triumph. Second and third places went to Olympic champions Leszek Blanik (gymnastics) and Tomasz Majewski (shotput) respectively.
