Honda F1 team CEO Nick Fry has been linked with a possible management buy-out of the team after the Japanese car manufacturer pulled the plug on its F1 operations.
Last week Fry revealed that of around 30 enquiries received he had sifted a dozen as being the most serious potential buyers. However, a report in the Telegraph newspaper claims hat amongst that dozen is a bid led by Fry himself.
However, the main sticking point on any possible takeover by Fry will be his ability to convince Honda bosses in Japan that he will be able to have enough backers in place to run the team for the next three to five years.
Fry has so far not commented publicly on the rumours, but other parties who entered bids for the team have claimed this to be the case after they received lukewarm responses from Fry to what they felt was a strong offer, and investigated matters further.
