Although Toyota remains fully committed to Formula One for the time being, team president John Howett has warned that the team will need to have a strong 2009 season or risk seeing its future funding cast in doubt.
"We've got a great team of people at Toyota, but I think we all feel it's about time we were winning," Howett said. "We need to have a strong season because if we have a weak one we'll have no future."
"Whether we have to win in 2009 is difficult to say, but I think we feel we have to win," he added. "It's our desire and passion and we feel we must win to secure a bright future in F1."
