Honda has moved to play down talk of an end of January deadline to find a buyer for its F1 team in order be ready for the first race of the season.
"Don't focus too much on any speculation regarding timeframes and deadlines," a Honda spokesperson told Reuters. "Work on our race car is progressing well."
"We're optimistic but it may not be possible to comment further for some time," they added.
It is widely accepted that Honda will need around six weeks to integrate a new engine provider with its car, once a deal is done, but first a buyer must be found.
There has been no further word on progress regarding a buyer since earlier this month when it emerged that of twelve possible bids, Nick Fry was the favourite with his plans for a management buy-out.
