Britain's Jenson Button is willing to accept a pay cut as long, as the team will be able to put him on the grid of next month's opening race in Melbourne. According to a source within the Honda team Button is more determined to retain his drive rather than the money.

British newspaper The Times reports that Button is willing to give up half of his salary as well as bonuses in order to assist the management buyout of Honda. A source told The Times: "The people who have said that Jenson was a money-grabbing playboy should eat their words. He could have held out for his full pay, like certain bankers, and even gone to law with a cast-iron case. But that was never in his mind.
"All he wanted was to come to a deal that would allow him to drive a car put on the grid by Ross Brawn. Nothing else mattered."
