Fisichella not ready to stop

02 March 2009

Force India's Giancarlo Fisichella has told his doubters that he is not yet ready to end his career in Formula One. The Italian endured a miserable season in 2008, but is hoping that his new Mercedes-powered VJM02 will be the car to propell him back into the points.

2009 marks Fisichella's fourteenth season in F1 in a career which has so far taken him to six teams. Last year proved a disapointment for the Italian as he failed to score points for the first time since 1996. Speaking with Autosport, Giancarlo admitted that last year was difficult but is not yet ready to hang up his helmet. He is optimistic towards the new season: "This year, with a completely new car, we hope to be competitive and to be able to score points quite often."

Fisichella is one of only three current drivers to have driven in Formula One on slicks; he continued: "Having that experience could help. It is important when you have got lot of experience to give your feedback to the engineers straight away so they are going in the right direction."
