Renault hoping for more running

02 March 2009 / Results / Photos

The Renault team is looking to iron out issues experienced on Sunday as the Jerez test moves into its second day. With only the Barcelona test remaining after Jerez, there are just seven days of running available before the F1 circus travels to Melbourne.

With overcast conditions in Spain Nelson Piquet was at the wheel of the R29 and completed 52 laps of the track. The Brazilian commented: "We had a few issues with the car today which limited our mileage, but still managed to evaluate some of the new parts we've brought to this test."

Despite a small shower of rain later in the afternoon, the track remained in good condition due to a high amount of running from the teams. Renault Chief Test Engineer Christian Silk is keen to get good mileage under his belt on the remaining days of the test: "The engineers have some interesting data to go through. The priority for the rest of the week is to continue adding mileage to the R29."

With so much rain in the off season tests in Spain and Portugal, good weather conditions are key to useful development for the teams before the start of the season.
