Rubens Barrichello has all but confirmed his drive with the ex-Honda outfit for this season. The São Paulo-born driver's position within the team has been in serious doubt since the Japanese manufacturer pulled out of Formula One in early December, with strong rumours since linking compatriot Bruno Senna to the position.

The most experienced driver in F1 history, Barrichello spoke to his local newspaper, O Estado: "I have faith and my faith says that, next week, I'll be driving a competitive car in the Barcelona test, although I don't a document in my hands that assures me of that. I've had four months of waiting, but I'm still not celebrating yet."

The team's new car is likely to be taking to the track in next week's Barcelona test; Barrichello continued "If I am I asked to drive, I think that I can have a good championship. I know the ability of Ross Brawn (potential team owner) and I am sure that he will know how to improve the car."
