Takuma Sato has silenced rumours that he will be a Red Bull test driver for this season. The Japanese driver has been linked with a testing role for either Red Bull Racing or Toro Rosso since losing out to the chance of a race seat with the latter when Sebastien Buemi was confirmed.
"I am no longer in negotiation with either of the teams about their third driver positions," Sato's website reports. "I am very disappointed that we were not able to come to an agreement with them, but you never know what is around the corner."
Japan's favourite lost his F1 race seat when Super Aguri folded in April, and didn't make another appearance in a cockpit until testing with Toro Rosso at Jerez in September. The 32 year-old was, at one point, also connected with a possible replacement of Nelson Piquet at Renault. "As everyone knows, I never give up, so we are still looking for the best options for the future," Takuma concluded.
