On Friday morning Honda officially announced that the Brackley-based team will continue, under the name of 'Brawn GP'. After many months of negotiating, the Japanese manufacturer sold its team to team principal Ross Brawn thus securing the future of its F1 team. Honda admits it has conducted various studies and discussions to prolong the team's future and is pleased to have reached an agreement with Brawn.

Speaking about the agreement with the former Ferrari technical director, Honda's Managing officer Hiroshi Oshima said: "Since announcing our withdrawal from Formula One racing on December 5 of last year, we have conducted various studies and discussions so that the team can continue its activities.

We are very pleased that we could sell the team to Ross Brawn, with whom we have been partaking in the challenges of F1 competition, and are grateful for his decision. We offer our sincerest wishes."
