Bridgestone satisfied with development

07 March 2009

Formula's One sole tyre manufacturer, Bridgestone, is happy with the amount of data collected at this week's Jerez test, which ran from Sunday to Thursday. Due to the testing ban which applies at the start of the championship, the Japanese company also tested tyres for the 2010 season, to be developed over the course of this year.

All four compounds of 2009 tyres were available to the teams in Spain this week (Hard, Medium, Soft and Super Soft) as well as the Wet and Extreme Wet products. The heavy rain on Wednesday was also an opportunity for the teams to test the special softer wet tyre which is used in Monaco Grands Prix only. The conditions in the south of Spain made data collection a harder task, as Tetsuro Kobayashi explained: "Once more we have had a test which has been difficult with temperature changes and a lot of rain and high winds."

Despite this, the Bridgestone Technical Manager is satisfied with the work completed so far: "We have seen no major issues. The teams understand that with so many regulation changes it will take time before they maximize their potential performance, but we have definitely seen good progress."
