The Formula One Teams' Association (FOTA) has hit out of the proposals regarding Formula 1's future, set out by governing body the FIA. History was made earlier this month when all teams publically agreed on an agenda which included a points system proposal of 12-9-7 for the top three places, a part of the plan which has subsequently been rejected by the FIA.
FOTA Chairman Luca di Montezemelo released the following statement:

"With regard to the decisions taken today by the FIA World Council, FOTA would like to express its disappointment and concern at the fact that these have been taken in a unilateral manner. The framework of the regulations as defined by the FIA, to be applicable as from 2010, runs the risk of turning on its head the very essence of Formula 1 and the principles that make it one of the most popular and appealing sports."
The Italian went on to say that, with the amount of time left between the making of these decisions and the start of the season, close analysis into the FIA's proposals must take place to avoid more sudden more change which can lead to confusion for the manufacturers, teams, public and sponsors.
