Force India's Adrian Sutil is holding back on optimism as the season draws ever closer; with less than a week to go, the German is still undecided on whether the team's latest model - the Mercedes-powered VJM02 - is quick enough to challenge for midfield success.
Team owner and Kingfisher boss Vijay Mallya has already said that he will be disappointed if his outfit has not scored its first Formula 1 points when the circus arrives in Barcelona on May 10, although the German driver is not so optimistic yet: "It's difficult to say right now. The winter tests are always hard to get a real read out of as everybody is running with different programmes so you never know who is running with light fuel loads."
Adrian did, however, feel that the team may have done enough to beat some competitors despite points positions being some way off at present. "Points are a goal, but not for the first race," he confirmed. "I hope the car is as competitive as possible in Australia; we have done a huge amount of work over the past few months to get it ready in time.
"We have got a bit of work to do," he added, "but we have got some updates scheduled for, if possible, the first races of the European season, although I'm sure other teams have too."
