Kubica could have gone faster

Robert Kubica will start tomorrow's season-opening Australian Grand Prix from fourth position, one row behind his front-row slot of last year. The Pole's quickest lap in the final part of qualifying was just over sixth tenths of a second slower than Jenson Button, as Kubica's team-mate Nick Heidfeld starts the race from eleventh on the grid.

"Looking at the situation, the cars that are very strong such as Brawn, Toyota and Williams are not using KERS," Kubica told reporters after qualifying. "Fortunately it's not a disadvantage to those who don't have it; I had a really good qualaifying too, and easily got into Q3."

Robert was disappointed, however, to see his fastest final run comprimesed: "Unfortunately Nico (Rosberg) went wide at Turn 14 and brought a lot of dust onto the track," he explained. "My tyres were then dirty and it made the last few corners a disaster, but I think the Brawns were impossible to catch anyway."
