Williams to protest against Red Bull and Ferrari?

28 March 2009

It is understood that the Williams team is planning to schedule a protest against Red Bull and Ferrari, regarding the aerodynamic legality of the cars run by Austrian and Italian teams. The news is just one peice of a large jigsaw of related stories as teams get to grips with the radical new regulations of the 2009 World Championship.

This news follows the protest which took place in reverse on Thursday, with the Williams, Toyota and Brawn teams coming under fire from Red Bull, Ferrari and BMW over the legality of diffusers used; although the stewards declared the three 'diffuser' teams legal, the case will be decided in the FIA Court of Appeal in Paris on April 14.

Also since qualifying, the Toyota cars have been disqualified and therefore lose their 6th and 8th positions on the Sunday's grid; they now start right at the back after elements of their rear wings were declared flexible by the FIA, following routine post-qualifying scrutineering. It is only elements of the front wing of each car which can possess moveable parts.
